SUMMARY:The Value of Premium Experiences in Today’s Times & Beyond
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed to help attendees learn key facets to consider when creating premium experiences at their wineries. \n“Experiences” has been the buzzword in tourism for the past 10 years\, and the New York State wine industry has recognized the importance of experiential tourism for creating brand loyalty and driving wine sales at its wineries. While a number of wineries had been moving toward offering more enhanced wine tasting experiences\, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the tasting room experience of all NYS wineries being reshaped by required health and safety regulations. An unexpected result of compliance has been a more elevated tasting experience with seated tastings in un-crowded tasting rooms\, and curated wine flights with accompanying food. For a number of wineries\, this elevated tasting room experience has resulted in higher per customer wine sales and overall satisfaction. \nThis workshop is designed to help attendees learn key facets to consider when creating premium experiences at their wineries\, so they can further develop premium tasting room offerings\, and incorporate them into their post-COVID operations. Attendees will learn to identify the Who\, What\, When\, Where and How of effective premium experiences. Real examples will be used that demonstrate how premium experiences have created measurable returns on investment in the Finger Lakes region. Attendees will receive a tool to start creating their own premium experiences\, or to evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs. \nThis is a Basic Webinar: Free to NYWGF Winery Members\, and accessible to all other NYS wineries for $50. Not a member yet? Join Now! \n\nClick Here to Register\n \nAbout the Presenter: \nDr. Laura Winter Falk is co-owner of Experience! The Finger Lakes\, recognized as one of the top wine tour companies in the country. Founded in 2007\, Laura and her husband and co-owner\, Alan\, understood the potential of elevated wine tourism in the region when the started their first experiential wine tours on Cayuga Lake. Thirteen years later they have tours with elevated tasting programs established on all three wine lakes\, with over 35 mutually-vetted top winery and craft producers in the Finger Lakes region. Her background as a researcher\, educator\, certified sommelier\, and small business owner gives Laura a unique perspective on the Finger Lakes wine business. She uses a data-driven approach to evaluating experiences\, through years of collecting customer evaluation and purchasing data on Experience! The Finger Lakes tours. By using a combination of comparative analysis and the evaluation of customer data\, Laura has been able to work side-by-side with wineries throughout the region to create premium experiences that have drawn tens of thousands of visitors to the Finger Lakes region.

In 2003\, a car accident left Benjamin paralyzed below the waist and he quickly adapted\, outfitting his wheelchair with a table that allows him to work the floor as a sommelier. \nYannick has been recognized among Wine Enthusiast’s Top 40 under 40 and was named Person of the Year by New Mobility Magazine in 2017. He was the resident sommelier on the hit radio show “On the Town with Michael Riedel” on AM 970 The Answer and has made multiple appearances on ABC\, NBC\, and CBS. \nIn 2015\, Yannick starred in “Uncorked\,” a documentary series about sommeliers on Esquire TV. SUMMARY:Virtual Tasting: Hermann J. Wiemer & Standing Stone Vineyards
DESCRIPTION:New Release Tasting & Pre-Harvest Check-in\nJoin Fred & Oskar for a virtual tasting that will focus on a 3-pack of wines that features our 2019 Gewürztraminer\, the new release of our Field White\, and the much anticipated Standing Stone Blanc de Blanc from 2017. \nIn a recent review from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate\, Mark Squires writes of the Blanc de Blanc\, “This is the first sparkler made from the 1974 vines at Standing Stone\, recently purchased by Hermann J. Wiemer. One of the underrated glories of both the Finger Lakes and Wiemer is sparklers. This is an impressive start to a new single-vineyard bottling. It has enough fruit\, but it is still dominated by its acidity. Powerful\, pointed and intense…” From the very beginning of our journey at Standing Stone\, we have been anxiously awaiting the release of this wine. After 20 months resting on the lees and 0 g/L dosage\, this is a zippy sparkler\, and the start of something quite special. We can’t wait to share it with you! \nClick Here to Buy the Wine!

SUMMARY:Telling Your Winery's Brand Story with Video
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the importance of video and how to create moving and effective pieces\, even while following social distancing protocol. \nVideo is a strong storytelling tool. In a time of limited contact\, it has been our view into the outside world\, harking us back to a pre-COVID life while giving us hope for a post COVID future. The sight\, sound and motion\, even in :15 or :30 second snippets\, conjures up memories and emotions and moves people to act. As wineries are a travel and tourism related industry\, video plays a critical role in inspiring potential travelers to visit you. It makes them excited and sets the stage for time and money while spent. In this session we will touch on the importance of video to your industry and guide you on how to create moving and effective videos\, even while following social distancing protocol. \nThis session is presented by Lindsay Marlenga\, Senior Marketing Director and Matt Sourwine\, Manager of Creative Services at Advance Media NY\, a Business Associate Member of the New York Wine & Grape Foundation.

SUMMARY:New York Wines Export Program 2020 Overview
DESCRIPTION:A comprehensive look at the benefits of the NYWGF program\, including information from successful exporters. \nHave you ever wondered how some New York wineries are selling their products successfully in international markets and garnering worldwide press? Much of the behind the scenes work is done by the New York Wine & Grape Foundation’s Export Program. Through a grant from the USDA’s Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) and the Market Access Program (MAP)\, we assist New York wineries seeking to explore opportunities in markets abroad. \nThe Export Program for 2020 is about to begin and all New York State wineries are invited to participate. Export participants do not have to be current members of the New York Wine & Grape Foundation. Even as we are wrapping up initiatives from the last program year (July 1st\, 2019 – June 30th\, 2020) our team is already working in partnership with our consultants on developing a schedule of marketing activities for the upcoming Export Program year beginning on July 1st\, 2020. \nThis webinar was recorded by the New York Wines Export Team (Valerie Ross\, Sam Filler\, and Sarah Gelpi) on July 9th from 11 AM to 12 PM as a comprehensive program overview. We also welcomed Kelby James Russell of Red Newt Cellars\, a long time program participant\, to share Red Newt’s experience and give you practical insight on how to make the Export Program work best for you!

SUMMARY:Fireside Chat with Sam Filler and Special Guests
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join Sam Filler\, members of our board of directors\, and special guests – perhaps with a glass of your favorite New York wine – for an informal but informational online chat each month. \nIf there is a silver lining as a result of recent events\, it is that many of us have become more comfortable with connecting on platforms like Zoom. While we are eager to see you all in person soon\, over the next few months we invite you to join us online to have the discussions we might have had in your offices\, your tasting rooms\, or even at Kindred Fare after hours. We look forward to talking about issues affecting your businesses and our community. Let’s share challenges\, innovations\, best practices\, and ‘feel good’ stories. Let’s share ways we can help each other and ways the New York Wine & Grape Foundation can continue to best serve you. \nEach month will have a general theme to start us off\, but we look forward to an open and engaging conversation with you all! \nThursday\, June 11th\, 2020 @ 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM \nSpecial Guests: Charlie Marshall\, NYWGF Board President and Chef & Owner of The Marshal Restaurant in NYC\, Oskar Bynke \, NYWGF Board Treasurer\, Co-Owner of Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard\, and Hans Walter-Peterson\, Viticulture Extension Specialist\, Cornell Cooperative Extension and additional guests to be announced! \nJoin us to meet the new Foundation Board President and Treasurer\, and talk about regional reopening of winery tasting rooms across the state\, and the grape market outlook for New York’s growers.
