SUMMARY:New York State of Wine: The Elements (Water)
DESCRIPTION:There is an incredible amount of diversity in climate and growing conditions throughout New York: from Long Island\, exposed to the Atlantic Ocean\, to Hudson Valley\, the historic heartland of New York wine\, to Niagara and the Champlain Valley on the border with Canada\, to Finger Lakes\, home to 650 miles of shoreline. New York wine is synonymous with extreme climate—from the influence of water on all sides to the varied soils from retreating glaciers and sea deposits—and with over 60+ wine grape varieties grown here\, it’s no surprise this region thrives on diversity. \nThis three-part series\, led by London-based wine writer and author Jamie Goode\, celebrates the elements most integral to the wine regions of New York: Earth\, Water\, and Wine. \nEp. 2 – Water \nDid you know that New York State alone has more than 7\,600 freshwater lakes\, ponds and reservoirs? The second episode of New York: Earth\, Water & Wine will dive into one of the most influential elements to New York wine regions—Water. Join host Jamie Goode and winemakers from the Finger Lakes and Long Island\, to discuss how the proximity to water (both maritime and continental) can be a blessing … and a curse\, but ultimately\, creates distinct wine grape growing circumstances that result in the beauty and diversity of New York wines.  \nClick Here to Register \nJamie Goode\nWine Writer and Author\nJamie Goode is a London-based winewriter\, lecturer\, and judge\, He is currently wine columnist with UK national newspaper The Sunday Express in addition to contributing regularly to a range of publications including The World of Fine Wine\, Noble Rot\, Wine and Spirits in the USA\, Wine Business International\, Drinks International\, Wines and Vines and Vine Pair. He is also author of the book Wine Science\, which won the Glenfiddich Award for Drinks Book in 2006. Jamie has a PhD in plant biology and worked as a book editor before joining the world of wine with his site wineanorak.com\, now one of the leading wine websites. He won the 2007 Glenfiddich Wine Writer of the year award.
