Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Coalition Announces Signature Grape Media Event

Hudson Valley, NY – The Hudson Valley’s wine scene is set to flourish as the Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Coalition hosts an exclusive media event at Benmarl Winery on Tuesday, May 14, from noon to 4 o’clock. This extraordinary gathering will showcase Cabernet Franc as the region’s signature grape, uniting wine enthusiasts, industry leaders, and media representatives.

Highlighting the event is a rare tasting experience featuring Cabernet Franc crafted by eight distinguished wineries from across the Hudson Valley. Guests will embark on a sensory journey sampling distinct expressions of this noble varietal, each reflecting the unique terroir and craftsmanship of its respective vineyard.

The event’s centerpiece is an illuminating seminar led by Cornell University, where experts will delve into the intricacies of Cabernet Franc clones grown in the Hudson Valley. Attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to taste these distinctive clones, gaining insights into their nuanced flavors and contributions to the region’s winemaking landscape.

In addition to the seminar and tastings, guests will indulge in delectable local fare, thoughtfully curated to complement the wines.

“We are thrilled to host this landmark event at Benmarl Winery, which is home to the oldest vineyard in America,” said Linda Pierro, one of the co-founders of the Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Coalition. “It is the perfect venue to showcase the remarkable potential of Cabernet Franc in the Hudson Valley.” Doug Glorie, co-founder and president of the Coalition, expressed his excitement, saying, “Through our collective efforts, we are committed to elevating Cabernet Franc as the preeminent grape varietal of our region, uniting winemakers, enthusiasts, and media partners in our shared passion for exceptional wine.”

To facilitate seamless transportation, round trip shuttle service will be provided from New York City to the Hudson Valley, as well as convenient pick-up options from the Beacon train station along the Metro-North line. Limited complimentary media and trade rooms will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with discounted rates offered thereafter for trade attendees seeking accommodations.
