New York Wine & Grape Foundation Seeks Commercial Grape Grower for Board of Directors

Application Deadline: July 9, 2026

The New York Wine & Grape Foundation (NYWGF) is seeking a Commercial Grape Grower to join its Board of Directors in an At-Large capacity. This seat was created by the Board at its May 19, 2026, meeting to ensure that the voice of New York’s commercial grape growing community, those actively managing vineyards, making decisions about varieties and cultural practices, and selling grapes to wineries, juice processors, and other commercial buyers, has meaningful representation in the NYWGF’s governance and strategic direction.

“Commercial grape growers are the backbone of New York’s wine and grape industry,” said Sam Filler, Executive Director of the New York Wine & Grape Foundation. “NYWGF is committed to ensuring their perspective informs our decisions on research funding, industry policy, and long-term strategy. This seat exists to strengthen that connection.”

Qualified candidates include owners, co-owners, or senior members of the management team of a commercial vineyard operation in New York State who are actively involved in vineyard management, including variety selection, cultural practices, and harvest decisions. Candidates should grow a diversity of grape varieties, including native, hybrid, and vinifera cultivars, and preferably sell a significant share of their production to third-party processors. All commercial growers meeting these criteria are encouraged to apply regardless of geographic location within New York State.

NYWGF Board Members serve a three-year term and are eligible for re-appointment. Directors attend four quarterly Board meetings per year and four quarterly committee meetings and are available to support NYWGF activities in their home region throughout the year.

Board members in this role advocate for the specific needs of New York viticulturists, help guide research funding and pest management priorities, provide grower perspective on budget and policy decisions, and collaborate with Cornell University, cooperative extension programs, and industry partners to address regional challenges.

Applications must be submitted by July 9, 2026 via the online application at https://form.jotform.com/261546129660156.

The NYWGF Governance Committee will review applications at its meeting on July 16, 2026 and make its recommendation to the full Board. All applications are kept confidential.
