Prejean Winery Celebrates Five Award-Winning Wines

February 9, 2024– Prejean Winery, a family-owned and operated winery located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region, is proud to announce that five of its 2022 vintages have won medals of distinction in two prestigious wine competitions.

The 2024 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest competition of North American wines, awarded gold medals to Prejean Winery’s 2022 Goldfinch Vineyards Dry Riesling, 2022 Semi-Dry Riesling, and 2022 Vignoles, and silver medals to its 2022 Marechal Foch and 2022 Traminette. The competition drew over 5,000 wines from almost 1,000 wineries across the continent.

The 2023 American Wine Society Competition, one of the most influential wine competitions in the country, also recognized three of Prejean Winery’s wines with medals of distinction. The 2022 Goldfinch Vineyards Dry Riesling received a double-gold medal and was named the best of the Riesling category, indicating a unanimous award of gold by the judging panel and a selection as the best of the Rieslings entered in the competition. The 2022 Semi-Dry Riesling and the 2022 Marechal Foch both received silver medals. The competition draws wines from across the United States and is judged by a panel of experts, including wine writers, educators, retailers, and winemakers.

“Winemaking is a collaborative enterprise and it’s nice to see our hard work rewarded,” said Tom Prejean, the owner of Prejean Winery. “These are difficult competitions. Judges are restaurant-owners, winemakers, academics. We’re proud and happy to receive this distinction and recognition for Finger Lakes wineries. We are grateful for the dedication and support from our staff and customers.”

Prejean Winery invites wine lovers to visit its tasting room at 2634 Rt. 14, Penn Yan, NY 14527, where they can sample the recent award-winners and other vintages and enjoy the views of Seneca Lake. The tasting room is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
