New York Wines Sustainability Week: A Celebration of Sustainable Winegrowing in New York City

New York is leading the way in sustainable winegrowing and next week wine lovers in New York City will have the opportunity to experience the results firsthand. The New York Wine & Grape Foundation (NYWGF) is thrilled to present New York Wines Sustainability Week, an exciting series of events taking place across New York City from Monday, February 24th through Sunday, March 2nd.

Throughout the week, attendees will have the chance to taste, learn, and engage with the New York Sustainable Winegrowing Program participants. The program is multifaceted and includes a certification process, ensuring participants’ grapes are grown with environmental responsibility, social equity, and long-term economic viability in mind. The week’s lineup will include restaurant tastings, retail wine shop events, exclusive pairing dinners, and roundtable discussions with winemakers, all designed to showcase outstanding wines from vineyards that are committed to sustainability.

Experience the Future of Wine

Sustainability is more than a buzzword – it’s a movement shaping the future of viticulture and winemaking in New York State. The New York Sustainable Winegrowing Program, in partnership with winemakers, farmers, and industry leaders, has developed a rigorous, science-based certification process that supports environmentally sound farming practices, fair labor policies, and long-term economic growth for the industry.

“We are thrilled to bring New York Wines Sustainability Week to New York City and provide consumers with the opportunity to experience firsthand the wines crafted with care for both the land and the people behind each bottle,” said Justin Jackson, NYWGF Sustainability Program Manager. “Sustainability isn’t just about environmental responsibility – it’s about ensuring the future of New York’s wine industry for generations to come. This event is a celebration of that commitment and an invitation for wine lovers to join us in supporting a greener, more resilient future for New York wine.”

During New York Wines Sustainability Week, consumers will have the chance to taste wines made with sustainable grapes, featuring participants from both the New York Sustainable Winegrowing Program and Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing Program.

Why Sustainability Matters

New York’s wine industry has always been at the forefront of innovation, and sustainability is a natural extension of that pioneering spirit. When you choose wines made from certified sustainable grapes, you’re supporting:

Healthier Vineyards: Eco-friendly farming techniques protect soil health, biodiversity, and water quality.

Stronger Communities: Fair labor practices ensure a positive social impact on vineyard and winery workers.

Exceptional Wines: Sustainable farming leads to higher quality grapes, producing wines that are vibrant, expressive, and reflective of New York’s unique terroir.
