Updated “New York Wine Reference Guide” Shares the Facts, Figures, and Stories of New York’s Grape Growers and Wineries

Building on Previous New York Wine Course & Reference Guide, this Update Features Regional Deep Dives, Varietal Information, Winemaking Trends, & More through Video, Infographics

The New York Wine & Grape Foundation is pleased to announce the culmination of a revision to the New York Wine Course & Reference Guide. Today, NYWGF introduces a refreshed and modernized New York Wine Reference Guide, along with accompanying infographics and videos. We are tremendously grateful to the dozens of grape growers, winemakers, winery owners, and researchers from across New York state who contributed the information that makes the guide so rich and engaging.

An update that was years in the making, the project was a labor of love led by the team of Dan Belmont and Ali Busacca.  “The New York Wine Reference Guide delivers a tight story of what makes New York wine stand out,” said guide author Dan Belmont. “The New York wine industry has an exciting story to tell, with a rich history and an even brighter future. We celebrate our emerging strengths, our unique diversity, and the bold personalities that live it every day.”

In addition to the new guide, NYWGF will be releasing five (5) core curriculum modules, including wine tasting components, that can be adapted to industry, trade, or consumer audiences.

“This is a much-needed initiative for the New York wine region, as we arrive on the world stage and have more ears, eyes, and palates on our wines,” said Oskar Bynke, co-owner of Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyards, and NYWGF Board Member. “Up to date, objective information about New York wines will increase knowledge and will accelerate awareness of how much we have elevated our region to new levels.”

NYWGF will update the New York Wine Reference Guide and curriculum modules regularly. Periodic updates will be made as new and notable developments unfold. Members of the community are also welcomed to contribute their own feedback and important stories here.
