May 21, 2024 – Penn Yan, NY – Today, the New York Wine and Grape Foundation (NYWGF) is proud to be one of the 66 organizations awarded a USDA Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP) grant. This funding is dedicated to building demand for American food and farm exports in high-potential markets around the globe. NYWGF has received $1.3 million to support New York Wine export marketing efforts in the Caribbean, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, and the United Kingdom from June 2024 through June 2029.
“The Export Program is one of our flagship initiatives, demonstrating for over 30 years the global appeal of New York Wines in both established and emerging markets,” notes Sam Filler, NYWGF Executive Director. “The program has grown in size and broadened its strategic vision over the years. We thank Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and the USDA for their support, as our international success would not have been possible without their belief in the efficacy of our programming.”
“With the introduction of new RAPP funds, we are excited to expand our efforts in current target markets and explore an untapped market that wineries have long been eager to enter—the Caribbean. This region presents a unique opportunity for growth and collaboration, allowing us to introduce a new audience to the distinct flavors and high quality of New York Wines,” said Valerie Venezia-Ross, Director of Programs & Marketing at NYWGF.
With the addition of RAPP funds, NYWGF will expand its activities in Vietnam, Japan, Korea, and the United Kingdom and add new activities in the Caribbean to attract key trade, media, and consumers. The introduction of more New York Wines tradeshows, consumer events, and social media efforts are just a few of the highlighted initiatives.
